A doctor and a woman staff nurse were arrested in connection with the death of a woman doctor. She was found dead in a private lodge here on Wednesday.
Police said that Hemalatha, who was practising in Sivaganga, had stayed in a lodge on Dhanappa Mudali Street on Tuesday. She is said to have booked the room under the guise of receiving her family members, who had been to Chennai, the following day.
However, as the doctor's room remained locked till the subsequent morning, the hotel staff alerted the police. When the locks were broken, the doctor was found dead. A note reportedly written by the woman doctor was seized from the room.
Meanwhile, investigation suggested that Hemalatha took the extreme decision as her husband A. Dhandapani had a relationship with a staff nurse identified as Vanjikodi. This had forced her to commit suicide. After registering a case under IPC Section 306 (abetting to commit suicide), both Dhandapani of Kalayarkoil in Sivaganga district and Vanjikodi were arrested.
