The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here has restrained the Madurai central market Kaaikari Matrum Alukum Porul Vyapaarigal Orunginaipu Sangam from re-allotting a shop to any third party other than the original allot-tee and granted an interim order.
According to the complainant, S.A. Naveen Stella Alexander of Srinivasa Perumal Koil Street Munichalai here, she had applied for allotment of a shop with the Sangam office-bearers in the complex at Vilangudi for selling vegetables. Accordingly, the Sangam had earmarked a space after taking in advance amount of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 42,000 for construction of shop. Further, the Sangam had directed the applicant to pay Rs. 80 daily, which too she was remitting with the office and obtained receipts. However, the Sangam directed the complainant to surrender the shop allotted in her favour and that they would allot another shop to her. As the complainant refused to accede to the request stating that it was the only source of her livelihood, the Sangam representatives said that they would cancel the allotment made to her. Hence, she approached the forum, the complaint stated. Passing order, forum president K. Rajagopal granted an interim order restraining the Sangam office-bearers from, in any manner, re-allotting the complainant's shop to any third parties until May 5 and sent notice to them, said advocates M. Piravi Perumal and V. Venkatasamy.
