Dengue prevention drive begins in city today

The Madurai Corporation’s drive for prevention of dengue before the onset of monsoon will begin in 10 wards on Wednesday.

In a press release, Corporation Commissioner R. Nanthagopal said 10 special teams comprising 30 members each had been formed to visit all houses, clear garbage heaps and fog the places wherever water was stagnating.

The teams will include health and sanitary inspectors, nurses and conservancy workers. The contact numbers of the Sanitary Inspectors are:

Aalangulam); Sundaresan (97888 10111) – ward 2 (Vilaangudi); Gopal (97888 10131) – ward 3 (Railway Colony); Venkatasamy (97888 10122) – ward 4 (Melamadai); Chandramohan (97888 10137) – ward 5 (Aathikulam); Sivasubramaniam (97888 10118) – ward 6 (Pankajam Colony); Muthuraayar (97888 10125) – ward 7 (Villapuram Pudhunagar); James John (97888 10121) – ward 8 (Meenakshi Amman Temple); Veeran (97888 10138) – ward 9 (Mannar College); and Ramakrishnan (97888 10139) – ward 10 (Veerakaaliyamman Temple).
