Death in US: plea for compensation

A villager from Melur moved the Madras High Court Bench here seeking compensation from the Centre and the State government for the death of his son in the United States during a freak firing incident on January 7, 2006.

M. Ramasubramanian (69) claimed that his son was shot dead when he was working at Arlington in Texas. “My aged wife and I have not been able to get justice till date,” he said in an affidavit filed through his counsel B. Stalin. The matter came up before Justice T.S. Sivagnanam on Thursday and he ordered notice to the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the State government, returnable by July 25.
