A group of Dalit street performers who eke out a living by dressing up like mythological characters visited the Collectorate here on Monday demanding a compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the family of a youth who was murdered allegedly by some Caste Hindus after being subjected to sodomy on July 11, 2012.

R. Sankarappa, father of the deceased, said his family had not been paid the statutory compensation to which it was entitled to under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act despite the police having arrested two of the accused and obtaining confessions from them.
