The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will organise four-day intensive campaign in the district from Sunday against the Union Government’s “anti-people” policies and its consequences and to inform the public of the party’s proposal for a countrywide agitation on May 24.

In a statement, CPI (M) district secretary K.G. Bhaskaran said the party had decided to organise a nationwide ‘jail bharo’ agitation on May 24.

Prior to this agitation, the CPI (M) had decided to conduct intensive campaign between May 12 and 15 with 400 teams, which would tell the people the need for agitating against the Centre’s anti-people Food Security Bill, inflation, fuel price hike, reduction in fertilizer subsidy, unemployment etc.

In another statement, he condemned the alleged attack on Dalits by the Caste Hindus at Thenkarai near Valliyoor. He alleged that the Dalits were attacked for having taken a dead body to the cremation ground via their hamlet, Nambithalaivanattaiyam.
