There is a marginal decline in pass percentage of Madurai Corporation schools.
The 2010 Plus Two results announced on Friday saw a dip of 1.5 per cent compared to last year's results. Last year, the percentage stood at 89.5 and this year it was 88 per cent.
S. Sebastine, Commissioner, Madurai Corporation, on Friday said that out of 2,297 students who appeared for the Plus Two examinations from 12 higher secondary Schools, 2,015 came out successful. The top three places among the Corporation schools were secured by E. V. R. Nagammai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School.
In terms of pass percentage, Thiru. Vi. Ka. Corporation Higher Secondary School with 95 per cent and E. V. R Nagammai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School with 92.6 per cent and Kakkaipadiniyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School with 92 per cent secured the top three places among the Corporation schools.
S. Parameswari of Avvai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School hogged the limelight through her sterling performance by emerging as the State topper in Geography. S. Jasmitha Banu, Nabila Banu and Dilshath Begum were the toppers and their scores were 1,133, 1,110 and 1,109 respectively.
S. Jasmitha Banu topped the list two years ago in the SSLC examinations and she has emerged numero uno again. Jasmitha Banu and Dilshath Begum have scored centum in Mathematics. A student of Kasturba Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School has scored 199 in Economics.
Tamil Nadu Government's Local Administration Department every year supports the top 25 students of Corporation schools and takes care of the higher education expenses and this year once the list is ready the students will be provided with the necessary help, according to Mr. Sebastine.
