A total of 340 huts were identified in 59 panchayats in the district so far to be converted into concrete houses under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme, since commencement of survey on huts, said Collector P. Muthuveeran.

In a release here on Wednesday, he said that the survey work in all 122 village panchayats was commenced on March 29.

A three-member team comprising village administrative officer, people welfare official and village panchayat assistant, would conduct the survey.

New door numbers of the huts mentioned in the 2009 voter list would be taken into consideration.

The beneficiary should produce ration card, EB connection, house tax receipt and land documents to the verification team.

The beneficiary family should be present in the hut during verification.

In the second phase, huts along with beneficiaries would be photographed and all necessary documents would be received for allotment of houses.

A sum of Rs.60,000 would be given to each beneficiary for construction of a 200 square feet house. People should cooperate with the officials in completing the survey properly and quickly, he added.
