The value of Indian rupee as well as the status of the Congress was fast deteriorating, said the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader, Vaiko, in Virudhunagar on Tuesday.
Mr.Vaiko, who was here to inspect the arrangements for the party’s State-level conference on the occasion of former Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai’s birth anniversary on September 15, blamed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for bringing down the value of rupee, through several wrong measures including the Food Security Bill.
Stating that it would not be able to come to power in the next Lok Sabha elections, he said the Congress would be totally decimated in Tamil Nadu since it had ruined the economy. It had been slowly transforming India into a colony of multi-national companies, he deplored.
On the situation in Sri Lanka, Mr. Vaiko said the Commonwealth meeting should not be held in the island nation.
A bicycle rally would be taken out soon to stress this point.
