‘Compliance necessary to maintain order’

‘Research must on strengthening and streamlining labour reforms’

“Compliance is necessary to maintain order. With a lot of changes in the Government policies, compliance is very important and not a punishment”, said K.S. Bharath, Past Chairman, CII Madurai Zone, at the CII NIPM HR Conclave 2017.

Mr. Bharath said that while the Human Resources (HR) was becoming divergent, Industrial Relations (IR) was getting Convergent. With a lot of policy changes being made by the Government, the people should have the mind to adapt to the changes to understand it. He said that labour law compliance was important for all organisations.

The conclave should have a butterfly effect towards understanding policy changes and compliance. The CII and the NIPM must come up with research papers on how to further strengthen and streamline labour reforms, he said.

K. Varadhan, Vice-President, NIPM, Madurai Chapter, said that the employment engagement was the main agenda for top management and cordial relationships between the two was necessary.

On the issue of facing difficulty in complying with the policy changes, Mr. Varadhan said that the start had to be somewhere and one cannot always complain of the process being tough and difficult.

P. Srinivasavaradhan, Chairman, CII Madurai Zone, welcomed the dignitaries. P.Muthuvellapan, Vice-President, Southern Region, NIPM, said that it was good to see participation from all over Tamil Nadu.

The theme of the conclave ‘Labour Laws- Towards Greater Compliance’ was the key issue that was addressed at the conclave. This was the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) first attempt with the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) in Madurai to enlighten the issue to the southern districts.

Close to 160 professionals from across Tamil Nadu attended the event.
