V.S.Chandraleka, former IAS officer and a close associate of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy, has sought action against Naam Tamilar founder Seeman, for his alleged hate-speech made against Hindu Gods.

Ms. Chandralekha submitted a petition to the Madurai city Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Mathur, here on Tuesday. She has sought action against the actor-turned-politician under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code for wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, outraging religious feeling, making statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes.

She told reporters, after meeting the CoP, that she had received complaints from several persons against Seeman’s hate speech during her stay in Madurai in the last three days.

“It is his right to have faith in God or not. But, he has no right to hurt the religious sentiments of people who have faith in Hindu religion and Gods,” she said.

Ms. Chandralekha said that she was unaware as to where Mr. Seeman had made the remarks, but added that she had seen the video clipping of his speech that was posted on YouTube, the details of which was provided to the police.
