College student waylaid in Jaihindpuram

A gang waylaid a college student, S. Ansari (20), of Villapuram Housing Board Colony, and snatched his cellphone at Jaihindpuram on Wednesday night.

Police said the student, a part-time employee at a hotel in Palanganatham, was returning home on his bicycle when he was intercepted by the three-member gang.

After pushing him from his bicycle, one of the gang members inflicted cut injuries on his hand and snatched his mobile phone at around 11.45 p.m.

The Jaihindpuram police have registered a case.
