Collection of biometric data for issuing Aadhar cards in wards 29 and 32 of Madurai Corporation would be held from Friday till January 9.

The registration of data for residents of these wards (formerly Vandiyur panchayat) would be done at Tagore Vidyalaya Matriculation School, Corporation Primary Schools at Vandiyur and Masthanpatti, the Commissioner, R. Nanthagopal, said in a statement.

Fingerprints, photographs and iris of all members of the family, who were above 5 years of age, would be taken.

The residents should bring along with them the acknowledgement card given during the 2010 National Census enumeration or ration card, voter identity card or driving license.

Aadhar cards would form the basis for issuance of new ration cards in 2013, the statement added.
