CM’s insurance scheme: GRH earns Rs.15 crore

As many as 23,000 benefited in the hospital in two years

Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here has accrued around Rs.15 crore under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS).

This was announced during the regional review meeting held at the hospital on Friday for five districts – Madurai, Sivaganga, Theni, Dindigul and Virudhunagar.

The GRH leads in providing medical treatment to patients under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, and has recorded around 23,000 beneficiaries since the launch of the scheme, said S. Natarajan, Tamil Nadu Health System Project Officer.

“The amount collected from the district was Rs.18 crore – Rs.15 crore from Madurai GRH, Rs.1.5 crore from Melur Government Hospital, which recorded around 1,000 beneficiaries, around Rs.90 lakh from Usilampatti hospital, which recorded about 900 beneficiaries, and Rs.50 lakh from Tirumangalam hospital,” he added.

Other hospitals

According to officials, Madurai district was followed by Theni which had earned around Rs.3 crore, benefitting around 2,000 patients. Sivaganga stood third by gaining around Rs.2.5 crore and recording around 1,500 beneficiaries. Dindigul and Virudhunagar Government Hospitals earned around Rs.2 crore each and recorded around 3,000 to 4,000 beneficiaries.

The objective of the meeting was to advise the doctors at government hospitals on proper utilisation of the revenue generated under the CMs health insurance scheme, said Mr. Natarajan.

Further, the officer said since Madurai received patients from many southern districts, it had registered more beneficiaries.

The meeting was chaired by M.S. Shanmugam, State Project Director, Chief Ministers Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, along with District Project Officer S. Natarajan.
