CM to address poll meeting in Madurai today

April 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:21 am IST - Madurai:

Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa will address an election rally seeking votes for her party candidates here on Wednesday.

Ms. Jayalalithaa would be addressing at the same venue along the Ring Road where she would be felicitated by farmers of five districts upon the legal victory of Tamil Nadu in increasing the water level of the Periyar dam to 142 feet in August 2014.

Incidentally, this will be the first meeting the AIADMK supremo to be addressing in Madurai since then.

Candidates from Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts would be taking part in the election meeting.

While the party leaders have been making elaborate arrangement for a massive meeting, the city police have charted a plan for bandobust with police personnel drawn from several southern districts. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) J.K. Tripathy inspected the security arrangement.

Ms. Jayalalithaa would land at Madurai Airport by a special aircraft in the evening and arrive at the meeting venue by road.
