As part of Swachh Bharat Mission initiatives, Madurai Corporation on Wednesday launched a two-week clean-up drive in playgrounds and other sports-related spots.

The Corporation has been choosing a focus area once in 15 days for clean up. So far, clean-up drives have been carried out in bus stands, government offices and places of worship.

The initiative was launched by senior officials of the Corporation at the surroundings of M.G.R. Stadium on Race Course Road. Sportspersons playing in the ground also took part in the drive.

Officials said for the next 15 days various sporting spots in the city like Railway Stadium and playgrounds in colleges and schools would be targeted for clean-up.
