V. Nagarajan, a neurologist based in Madurai, has been made chairman of the task force constituted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) which would guide research in the field of neurosciences. A communication to this effect was sent to him from the office of ICMR Director General V.M.Katoch recently.

The committee’s mandate is to promote open-ended research in neuroscience in the country through various research institutions, universities and medical colleges. “Neuroscience is an important area which needs to be strengthened and hence Dr.Katoch has desired to constitute a committee which will advise on research to be carried out in various areas of neurosciences, including translational aspects of ICMR-funded research so that the fruits of that research would reach the society appropriately,” the communication has said.
