Children’s film festival begins in Madurai

Children’s film fest inaugurated in city Cinema houses nearby schools to screen films exclusively for children up to July 18

For children studying in schools, there is some good news.

From today, until July 18, special shows including animation movies would be screened in select cinema halls in the city and peripheries, exclusively for children, jointly organised by the Children’s Film Society and Madurai district administration.

District Collector Anshul Mishra inaugurated the children’s film festival at the Sakthi Theatre complex here on Monday.

On the first day, 11 theatres screened movies like “Sundarakanda Mahabharatham” “Chellam” “Engalaalum Mudiyum” “Vetri Padhai” and among others. Children from a large number of governments, government aided and corporation schools witnessed the films in the respective localities.

According to a press release, the cinema houses including Annamalai, Solaimalai, Meenakshi, Kalaivani, Guru and among others would screen the movies free of cost for the children.

The Chief Education Officer Nagaraja Murugan, Tamil Nadu Cinema Exhibitors Association president and Sakti Theatre owner Annamalai, Association secretary Gajendran also participated on the inaugural function.
