Sakthi-Vidiyal, a non-governmental organisation, celebrated ‘Child Rights Festival’ on the St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School premises here on Sunday.

Children from varied backgrounds, particularly from low-income groups - participated in games and activities in the morning. The second half of the day consisted of cultural programmes and felicitation of representative officers from different Vidiyal groups in the city.

“The entire event is of the children, for the children and by the children. They planned and hosted the entire show. A seven-member core team coordinated the event,” said Jim Jesudas, Executive Director of Sakthi-Vidiyal.

Earlier in the day, the children took part in a talk on government’s child policy. There were karate demonstration and music programmes. Professor L. Raja from Gandigram Rural Institute shared some valuable life lessons through anecdotes.
