Timely intervention of officials led to the prevention of a child marriage at Anna Nagar here on Wednesday. The District Childline-1098 received information that a marriage was scheduled to take place between S. Ramachandran (27) of Anna Nagar, Thoothukudi, and a 17-year-old girl from Rajagopal Nagar, studying Plus One here.

A team of officials from District Child Protection Unit, District Social Welfare Department, Revenue Department and Childline visited a marriage hall, where the man was about to tie the knot.
