Keeping with the trend over the past few years, all the schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recorded 100 percent pass in the Class 10 results announced on Saturday.
The results also showed that more number of students had secured a perfect 10 cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) compared to last year. For instance, 45 students from Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) School in Narimedu had scored the highest grade of 10 CGPA this year compared to just 16 students in 2014-15.
From the nine schools in Madurai district, a total of 858 students took the Class 10 exams this year. Of all the schools, a maximum of 215 students sat for the exam from Mahatma Montessori School (CBSE) in which 64 students secured 10 CGPA.
In terms of percentage, the highest number of 10 CGPA was from Adhyapana School as nearly 40 percent of the students from the school scored a CGPA of 10.
Institutions such as Velammal Vidyalaya (Viraganoor), Queen Mira International School and Pandugudi Sri Lakshmi Narayana Vidyalaya, which had their first batch of students appearing for Class 10, also had many students scoring 10 CGPA.
C. Muthiah, the Principal of KV in Narimedu, attributed the considerable improvement in performance of his school students to the model exams conducted prior to the examinations in both the terms. “After the model exams, we invited all the parents and students to individually discuss the focus areas. The session really helped the parents and students to give a final push before the exams,” he said.
On the increased number of students scoring 10 CGPA, P. Hamsapriya, Principal of Mahatma Montessori School (CBSE), said that it was owing to the expertise of teachers in handling the CBSE curriculum and guiding the students. A large number of students gathered in their schools after the results were announced to thank the teachers. K. Manoraji, a student from KV in Narimedu, who had scored 10 CGPA, attributed her success to the additional coaching by the school and motivation by her parents.
