A 30-year-old carpenter, K. Senthil Kumar, was found murdered with his throat slit open along the Ring Road in Karuppayoorani police limit on Sunday.
The police said Senthil Kumar, a resident of Maruthupandiyar Street in Narimedu, had gone out after he received a call at around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday. He did not return home. On Sunday morning, the police found his body lying in a farmland near Vandiyur along the Ring Road. His body bore nine stab injuries and his throat was slit open.
The police said his mobile phone was missing. The police suspect that some personal enmity would have led to the murder. The police are trying to trace the person who had made a call to him on Saturday night. Assistant Superintendent of Police (Tirupparankundram) Sasi Mohan inspected the scene of crime.
Son kills fatherIn another incident, a 50-year-old man died after his son attacked him with a club over family dispute near Usilampatti on Saturday night.
P. Azhagarsamy of E. Pudupatti used to pick quarrels with his wife frequently under the influence of alcohol. On Saturday night, the drunk man quarrelled with his wife and started beating her with a stick. His son, Ramar Pandi (22), tried to prevent him from attacking his mother. However, when the father continued to assault her, in a fit of anger Pandi snatched the stick and started attacking him. Azhagarsamy, who sustained head injuries, died. Usilampatti Taluk police are investigating.
