A car in which a group of youth from Teppakulam here were travelling hit a house damaging one of its walls near Vadipatti on Sunday afternoon.

The local people had told the police that the youth were drunk and that the driver lost control of the car and hit the house of A. Andichamy (66) at Thethoor Narayanapuram. However no one in the house was injured.

Police said that in the impact of the collision, a portion of the cement wall collapsed. The debris damaged a sewing machine. The youth were returning home after bathing at the Kutladampatti falls in Sirumalai Hills.

The accident occurred at around 2.30 p.m.

However, the police said that the owner of the vehicle, who was behind the wheel, was not drunk. “He did not have a valid license,” Inspector of Police Sivasankaran said.

Five persons were travelling in the car.

Two persons, including the driver, were injured. They were given first-aid at the Vadipatti Government Hospital.
