The strike call given by the Joint Action Council of BSNL Executives and Non-Executives Associations was near total as only a handful number of 2,300 officials and staff in the BSNL district covering three revenue districts of Madurai, Theni and Dindigul, turned up for duty on Tuesday.

He said that all the 162 telephone exchanges in the telecom district were closed.

None of the 13 customer service centres functioned. No line fault complaint was attended to.
