The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ready to face snap polls to the State Assembly whenever it is conducted, according to party State president Tamilisai Soundarajan.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, she said there had been reports about snap polls in the State for sometime. “Even Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha M. Thambidurai had told his party men recently that the elections could happen anytime and asked them to get ready,” she said.
Stating that the ruling party functionaries were dreaming of winning the next elections, she said the BJP would form a stronger third force in the State. “We will form such a force that will not allow the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to gain from it (as it did in the last Parliamentary election),” she said.
Ms. Tamilisai said the AIADMK government was corrupt on all fronts as revealed in the granite, Aavin milk and paddy adulteration scam.. She also pointed out the arrest of former Agriculture Minister ‘Agri’ S.S. Krishnamoorthy in connection with the suicide of engineer S. Muthukumarasamy in Tirunelveli for not collecting bribe money for him.
The BJP would conduct mega public contact programmes in all the 42 party district headquarters on Saturdays beginning from May 2, to listen to the grievances of the common man, she added.
