November 18, 2014 01:47 pm | Updated 01:47 pm IST - MADURAI:

A Bangladeshi has moved the Madras High Court Bench here seeking a direction to get his daughter relieved from a special camp for women at Ramanathapuram where she had been lodged after being rescued from flesh trade.

The petitioner, Ahmed Jamal (name changed), claimed that his daughter, a divorcee, was brought to India by one of their relatives on the false promise of obtaining her a decent job. The relative sold her to a gang involved in flesh trade at Hubli in Karnataka.

She was transported from Hubli to Bangalore and later to Dindigul where she came into contact with a lawyer who handed her over to the police and got her lodged in the special camp. Stating that he traced his daughter with the assistance of a non-governmental organisation, the petitioner expressed his desire to take her back to Bangladesh. He claimed that Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Mumbai had issued him a travel permit to take her back to their nation.
