Attacked for not selling pirated CD

A shopkeeper, B. Babu, selling electronic goods in Meenakshi Bazaar on Scott Road here was assaulted by a few youths with knives, after he could not give them a pirated compact disc of the newly released ‘Kanchana-2’ on Monday.

Police said that when the youths asked Babu for the CD, he told them that he did not sell pirated CDs. The youths, claiming to be close friends of a politician, picked a quarrel with him.

Later, they came back with knives and attacked Babu. The police arrested two youths, identified as R. Senthil (24) of West Masi Street and M. Shanmugam (21) of Pasumalai, in this regard.
