The members of the “Joint Action Committee seeking justice for the death of woman lecturer Nishana” have demanded the arrest of the victim's husband and in-laws.
The victim, Nishana was found dead in her father's house, a retired DSP, situated in Narayanapuram a couple of days ago. At the time of the incident, there was no one at home, police said.
Meanwhile, at a meeting held here, representatives from various women's organisations, advocates and activists' expressed concern over the circumstances that led to the death of Nishana. She was married in July 2009 and hence alleged that she ended her life due to dowry harassment.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, the forum coordinator Selva Gomathi demanded thorough probe by the CB-CID police and urged that they should not be granted bail among others.
The members included advocates Henri Tiphagne of People's Watch, U. Nirmala Rani, Prabha, Geetha, some faculties from the American College, where Nishana had worked and the family members of Nishana attended, the release said.
