Services of Tamil Nadu Arusau Cable Television Corporation were launched in Dindigul and Theni districts on Friday.
Launching the programme here, Minister for Power R Viswanathan said the AIADMK government would offer cable TV connections at a cheaper rate.
Such a measure would put an end to monopoly. This facility would be extended to other parts of the district in a phased manner.
Collector K. Nagarajan and Superintendent of Police A. Chandrasekaran accompanied him.
At present, the new cable network was accessible only to Dindigul.
Cable TV operators in Chinnalapatti, Batlagundu, Nilakottai and Kodaikanal were following the old system only.
Theni
Collector K.S. Palanisamy launched Arasu Cable TV Corporation in the district on the same day and said that initially free channels would be telecast and later pay channels would be added.
Sivaganga
Collector V. Rajaraman inaugurated the services of Arasu Cable TV Corporation at Kanjirankudi near here on Friday.
He said it would enable viewers to get cable connection at cheap rate.
The cable TV operators, who had joined the Arasu Cable TV Corporation, would provide the signals to their respective areas from the feed of government Multi System Operator.
Viewers could watch most of the free channels. The cable operators of the concerned area would collect the fee from the consumers and they would remit Rs.20 to the government for feed charge.
In Ramanathapuram, Collector V. Arun Roy signalled the operation of Arasu Cable TV Corporation at Pattinamkathan.
Virudhunagar
Virudhunagar Collector, M. Balaji inaugurated the Arasu Cable TV Corporation facility at Anaiyur near Sivakasi.
The District Revenue Officer, C.A. Raman, was present, a statement said.
