One person was killed on the spot when his car fell into an 80-foot deep dry farm well at Mallanampatti village near Batlagundu here on Tuesday night.
The police said that the deceased was Sivanesan (42), a software engineer in Bangalore.
His wife Roshini and six-year-old daughter Lotchana escaped with minor injuries.
They were coming to Batlagundu from Bangalore to take part in a relative’s function.
When their car approached Mallanamapatti village, the car slipped into the dry well from the road late last night. The car nosedived into the well and smashed on the rocky bed. Sivanesan was killed on the spot.
His wife and daughter who sat in the rear side of the car broke the window panes and came out of the car. She and her daughter sat on the broken roof of the car in the well throughout the night, while her husband’s body was caught beneath the mangled remains of the car.
On hearing the cry this morning, local farm workers found them in the well and rescued them.
With the help of local people, the police removed the body and sent to the GH for postmortem. The injured were treated.
