The Madurai Kamaraj University offers the following five-year integrated courses in two specialised areas from this academic year 2012-13: Masters in Film and Electronic Media Studies and Master of Tourism and Hotel Management.
Candidates who are interested in joining these courses can apply online from July 14 via varsity website.
In a press release here on Friday, its Registrar in-charge R.Kannan, said the objective is to establish high standards of film and television education in India in order to raise the technical standard of films and television programmes.
The Masters in Film and Electronic Media Studies course will produce trained manpower for the growing needs of film industry and television organisations. It would generate employment opportunities for students and involve them constructively in societal education.
He said the course would focus on skilled manpower needed for traditional and folk media in India. It would fill the demand-supply gap in the field of mass media. The course provides scope for research in film and television branches.
About the tourism and hotel management course, he said that it would lay emphasis on theoretical and practical training in hotel, catering and institutional management. The course will inculcate habits of courtesy, discipline and hard work besides popularising hotel management and catering as attractive/ progressive career.
