Demanding adequate supply of kerosene to a cooperative store in ward 21 of Tirunelveli Corporation, a group of residents submitted petition to Collector R. Selvaraj on Monday during the weekly grievance day meeting.
The petitioners said the cardholders of Anna Nagar, Indra Nagar, Jaya Nagar, Luke Nagar and Everest Street could not get kerosene for the past several Mondays as the cooperative society fair price shop in their area was not getting adequate quantity of kerosene. Hence, steps should be taken to ensure adequate supply of kerosene to this shop, which should be brought under close monitoring by the officials to prevent illegal selling of essential commodities in the black market, the petitioners said.
Corporation councilor J. Sarojini of ward 21 accompanied the petitioners.
