It will evolve a “political action plan” for Tamil Nadu: P. Muralidhar Rao
The two-day ‘Thamarai Sangamam,' fifth State conference of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which begins here on Thursday, will evolve a “political action plan” for Tamil Nadu, according to the party secretary, P. Muralidhar Rao.
The meet would set out a political agenda for the party to evolve as a formidable player in Tamil Nadu politics, Mr. Rao told newsmen at the conference venue on Wednesday.
He said the plan would cover all issues of the State, including those of fishermen, Sri Lankan Tamils and those related to the development and governance of Tamil Nadu. It would mirror the need to change the “politics of corruption” at the national level.
Pledge
Participants would take a pledge to bring about a change in Tamil Nadu politics and also work for the economic and social empowerment of the State.
On the minor blast that occurred in Madurai recently, Mr. Rao said that whenever the BJP intensified its activities, “divisive forces” tried to obstruct and threaten it. These attempts demonstrated their consistency and also BJP's determination.
The BJP president, Nitin Gadkari, senior leader L. K. Advani and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj will participate in the first-day deliberations of the conference.
Mr. Advani is expected to reach Madurai on Thursday afternoon, address the evening session and leave for New Delhi thereafter.
The general council of the State BJP will meet on the second day.
