The Madurai District police have taken extensive measures to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of Jallikattu events at Avaniapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. A strong posse of policemen numbering around 1500 would be deployed in and around the arena where the sport would be held.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police Asra Garg, said that police force headed by him will have two Additional Deputy Superintendents, 10 Deputy Superintendents, 30 Inspectors and 100 Sub Inspectors as part of the security force.

. He said that both the bull tamer and the bull owner would be disqualified if they are found to be in a drunken state.

Bull fighters at any point of time during the jallikattu should not give away their jersey (numbered for identification) to others, only the registered tamers and bull owners shall participate in the event.

The tamers and owners should be present at the venue on time, late entry will not be entertained, and spectators should refrain themselves from climbing up in the trees and electric poles for a better view.

Galleries meant for journalists, media persons and foreigners should not be occupied by others. Tamers should not take drugs or any other banned substance like wise the bulls should also be not administered any drugs.

Bull owners are not supposed to bring in any sharp weapon or instrument; the spectators should not chase or disturb the bulls that make their exit at the collection point. The owners should take their bulls away after it crosses the exit point and should not bring them back.

Vehicle parking has also been earmarked for the event, for Avaniapuram jallikattu, vehicles coming from Thirupparankundram to Avaniapuram should be parked at the SKR Nagar parking lot opposite to the Avaniapuram Police Station. Vehicles coming from Madurai city via Avaniapuram arch should be parked at Pottakulam Government High School parking area. Likewise vehicles coming from Madurai city via Villapuram should be parked at Avaniapuram Bus Stand parking area.

Vehicles coming from Thirumangalam and Kaariapatti via Marudhu Pandiyar statue to Avaniapuram should be parked at Panchavarnam Park behind the statue. Vehicles coming from Semburani Road and Bypass Road should be parked at Corporation parking space.

For Palamedu event, vehicles coming from Madurai should be parked near the space at Thai Matriculation School, vehicles coming from Natham and surrounding villages should be parked at the parking area opposite to the High School at Valaiyapatti.

The vehicles coming from Vadipatti should be parked at the space near the LPG Gas godown near the Palamedu Police Station. Vehicles coming from Alagarkoil, Parali and Kadavur should be parked at the space earmarked near the Manikkampatti Bridge.

For Alanganallur, vehicles coming from Madurai should be parked near the space at the Indian Oil Petrol Station; vehicles coming from Oomachikulam Road should be parked at the lot near the Thenmalar Finance Company. Vehicles coming from Vadipatti and neighbouring villages should park at the lot near Ayappan Temple. Vehicles coming from Palamedu and neighbouring areas should park at the space allotted near the Periyar Bridge on Palamedu Road.
