Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure that the immersion of Vinayaga idols at the identified spots takes place peacefully, police have said.

For a total of 280 idols installed in different locations in the suburban pockets by various Hindu outfits, the Madurai district police have deployed around 1500 personnel. All the routes and the places of immersion have been identified.

Under no circumstance, the volunteers shall deviate from the given routes or indulge in any act that may cause disturbance to maintenance of law and order.

The Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan has said unlawful assembly would lead to legal action. Explaining that the police would act tough against perpetrators, the SP said that forming groups and taking out rallies or processions without permission would attract severe action. If required, the police may even invoke the National Security Act (NSA) on such law offenders.

Buses to ply as usual

In another press release, the police said that ahead of the Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran’s guru puja to be held in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district, mofussil buses plying from Madurai would be operated as usual. Individual car passes with green colour would be issued to vehicles plying to Paramakudi from Madurai.
