101 persons inducted for invigilation duty

The higher secondary examinations of the State Board commenced on Friday with Language Paper-I. While there were no complaints from the 80 examination centres in the district, 139 students were absent on the first day.

Officials from the Department of School Education here said that 34,551 students are appearing for Plus Two examinations in Madurai district this year.

All examination centres have a special squad to keep a vigil and the department officials too have formed invigilation teams to prevent malpractice. In total, 101 persons have been inducted for invigilation duty.

C. Amuthavalli, Chief Educational Officer, said that all arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the public examinations. She also made surprise visits to centres. Uninterrupted power supply at the examination centres was welcomed by all. The exams will be over on March 27.

Meanwhile, the Class XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) too began on Friday with the English paper. Since there are plenty of optional papers, the CBSE examinations will go on till April 16.

In Madurai district, Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 at Narimedu is the only examination centre for CBSE Class XII exams.

In total, 159 students of KV-1 and KV-2 at Thirupparankundram are appearing for Board exams this year. Other CBSE schools have classes up to Class X.
