For the first time, the Army recruitment office has introduced bio-metric system to recruit candidates for various posts at soldier level here on Tuesday with an aim of ensuring fool-proof selection and avoiding any duplication.
In the selection process, the candidates had to undergo certificate verification, physical test and written examination and interview for the posts of soldier technical, nursing assistant, soldier general duty.
All the candidates, who were selected for physical fitness test, should record their finger prints in the computer at the recruitment centre.
An army officer recorded all the fingerprints into the computer before allowing them to take part in the physical fitness test.
Only those selected in the physical test would be allowed to appear for the written examinations.
At the time of written test, finger prints of these candidates would be matched with the ones recorded at the time of physical test, an official said. Massive recruitment of personnel for the Army was commenced at District Sports Complex on May 10.
Candidates from Dindigul, Theni, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Krishnagiri and Thiruppur took part in the exercise for verification of marks.
After preliminary verification, 1,095 candidates were selected for the physical test. The recruitment process will end on May 16.
