In a joint exploration undertaken at Sulapuram village in Peraiyur taluk, scholars of School of Historical Studies and Pandiyanadu Centre for Historical Research have unearthed several antiquities.

According to C. Santhalingam, secretary, Pandiyanadu Centre for Historical Research, the artefacts could belong to Iron Age or Megalithic Age.

The antiquities included black and red earthen ware, plates, cups, pots, sprouts and ring stands. The team, comprising R. Udhayakumar, T. Muthupandi and K. Palraj, also found cairn circles and burial urns at Sulapuram, according to a press release from Pandiyanadu Centre for Historical Research.
