Cadres urged to remind people of benefits received
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will target the beneficiaries of welfare schemes of the State government to mobilise votes for party candidate for Madurai Lok Sabha constituency R. Gopalakrishnan.
Addressing the cadres of Madurai Central Assembly segment on Sunday, party’s urban district secretary and Cooperation Minister K. Raju said the list of beneficiaries would be given to the cadres. “Will the people who enjoyed so many benefits not vote for the AIADMK? Your duty is to remind them of these benefits,” he told the party men.
He pointed out that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had introduced many unique welfare schemes such as free rice through public distribution system, free laptops, packaged water and food at subsidised prices through Amma canteens. The Minister also listed out the number of beneficiaries in both the Madurai Central and Madurai East Assembly segments where he addressed the cadres later in the day.
Mr.Raju said the cadres should explain to the voters the need for the AIADMK to play a role in the Centre as the State was being denied its rights over inter-State sharing of waters, important issues such as Katchatheevu, fishermen row and power distribution, and its due share in revenue.
Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa said leaders from various States such as H.D. Deve Gowda (Janata Dal – Secular) and Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal Chief Minister) had realised the potential of ‘Amma’ and were ready to support her to become the Prime Minister.
Party’s rural district secretary M. Muthuramalingam said Ms.Jayalalithaa decided to not go for any alliance in the Lok Sabha polls by reposing faith in people that they would support her because of all the welfare schemes she launched.
Mr.Gopalakrishnan and MLAs R. Sundarrajan (Central) and Tamilarasan (East) addressed the meetings.
