As part of celebrating former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 69th birth anniversary, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadre and functionaries led by Ministers Sellur K. Raju and R.B. Udayakumar organised many functions in the city on Friday.
Senior functionaries, including MLA V.V. Rajan Chellappa, who spoke at a public meeting said that no force on earth could destabilise the party. In an apparent reference to former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, now in the rebel camp, he said that the cadre base in the party was intact.

Meanwhile, Madurai South AIADMK MLA S.S. Saravanan, who had supported Mr. Panneerselvam, said that he had aligned with the right faction as per the wishes of the people of his constituency.
Former Tirumangalam MLA M. Muthuramalingam said there was nothing called ‘OPS camp’ and that the AIADMK cadre backed Mr. Panneerselvam who alone was identified as Chief Minister by Jayalalithaa.
