AIADMK Councillor elected unopposed to Appointments Committee

K. Muthukaruppan, ruling party councillor representing Ward 21 of the Madurai Corporation was on Monday elected unopposed as the member of the Appointments Committee of the local body.

When the indirect election to the post was held at the Corporation council hall here, no one except for Mr. Muthukaruppan, filed his nomination.

The Commissioner, R. Nanthagopal, handed over the certificate of election to Mr. Muthukaruppan, in the presence of Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa,and Deputy Mayor R. Gopalakrishnan.

The election to the post was necessitated following the death of S. Kumar, who had represented Ward 85.
