Aavin profit set to exceed Rs. 2 crore: Collector

The Madurai Aavin Union, which is now making profits of around Rs. 2 crore per month, is all set to register even further growth, according to Collector Anshul Mishra.

Aavin products represent quality with the people assured of hygienic conditions. The Union was trying to promote the brand in a professional manner, he said while flagging off a rally from the Aavin premises here to promote the sale of Aavin milk products.

“People should know that this is a State Government undertaking that is doing wonderful work and is capable of manufacturing a quality product that was being marketed and sold profitably,” said the Collector who was also the Special Officer of Aavin Union.

A part of the profit was being given back to the dairy farmers in the milk producing cooperative societies (MPSC) with this component alone working out to Rs. 2.5 crore, he added. P. Tamilselvi, General Manager of Madurai Aavin, which also covers Theni district, informed that the union was targeting milk sales of Rs. 1.75 lakh litres a day from the present Rs. 1.60 lakh litres. The current average procurement was 2.15 lakh litres a day. The surplus milk was being converted into milk powder and used for milk products.

Besides its milk brands of Aavin Gold (500 ml), Cow Milk (250ml and 500 ml) and full cream milk (1 litre), the union was also looking to boost the sales of its milk products such as ghee, butter, Mysore Pa, Milk Peda, and Mango Shake.

The Madurai Aavin Union has a total of 1,017 outlets with 65 in Theni and the remaining 962 in Madurai.
