The Infosys co-founder spoke at the 28th annual convocation of Thiagarajar School of Management in Madurai

Citing the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ (AAP) as an example of how to climb the ladder and emerge successful despite all odds, Infosys co-founder S. Gopalakrishnan urged a young audience to think big and have high aspirations.

“When you look at how the party has come to the forefront in the last nine months, it proves that nothing is impossible,” he said.

Mr.Gopalakrishnan, who is also the president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was speaking at the 28th annual convocation of Thiagarajar School of Management here on Saturday. As many as 110 graduates from the Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) streams received their degrees.

Addressing the graduates, Mr.Gopalakrishnan said that with technology growing by leaps and bounds, it was the need of the hour to make it accessible to the lower strata of society. “We can expect a host of technological innovations across diverse fields, which include biotechnology, nanotechnology and robotics, in the future. It is important that we invest in innovation and make technology accessible to the poor without compromising on quality,” he said.

Stating that knowledge was a key asset, given the huge population of the country, Mr.Gopalakrishnan said that investing in research and encouraging entrepreneurship would drive innovation and development to greater heights.

In his welcome address, Manikam Ramaswami, Chairman, Board of Governors, TSM, said the institution was all set to become a B-school from the coming academic year.

Speaking about the other academic developments planned for the following year, Director Gautam Ghosh said they were planning to introduce more value addition courses to the PGDM stream and include a PGDM honours stream as well.

“A part-time management programme for working executives is also in the pipeline which is being planned with Madurai Kamaraj University,” Prof.Gautam said.

Members of TSM Board of Governors as well as students and faculty from the institution were present at the graduation ceremony.
