Three persons arrested; 200 gm of jewels recovered

Police have arrested three persons, who were allegedly involved in several incidents of burglary and robbery in various parts of Western Tirunelveli region, and recovered 200 grams of gold ornaments from them.

Police sources said a police personnel conducting vehicle check at Kurumbalaperi under Paavoorchathram police station limits on Thursday intercepted a two-wheeler with three persons.

On interrogation, the police found that they were robbers R. Natarajan (39) of Paavoorchathram, K. Sermadurai (23) of Kurumbalaperi and K. Mariselvam (29) of Mela Pattamudaiyarpuram.

The trio reportedly confessed to the police that they were involved in 11 incidents of robbery and burglary in Paavoorchathram, Ooththumalai and Tenkasi areas. The police recovered 200 grams of gold ornaments from them.

Further investigations are on.
