Proper execution of all the government schemes by various departments would be given utmost priority, said K. Veera Raghava Rao, who took charge as the new Collector of Madurai on Friday.
He said that while the schemes were already getting executed properly, effort would be made to improve the efficiency of the schemes further. When asked about his transfer to Madurai district ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Mr. Rao said that all guidelines and instructions of the Election Commission would be strictly followed. He said that special focus would also be given to health, education, agriculture and generation of employment. Mr. Rao, an engineering graduate and a 2007-batch IAS officer hailing from Andhra Pradesh, was previously serving as the Collector of Tiruvallur district.
His first posting was to Madurai district as Assistant Collector. Later, he had served as a Sub-Collector in Tirunelveli district, Additional Collector (Development) in Cuddalore district and as Commissioner of Tiruchi Corporation. L. Subramanian, who was serving as Collector of Madurai district until now, has been transferred to Chennai as Joint Commissioner of Revenue Administration.
