K. Lenin (23) committed suicide after he was allegedly pressurised by a nationalised bank to repay educational loan.

The deceased, a student of civil engineering from a local college, had obtained Rs. 1.90 lakh educational loan. He was last seen at 9.30 p.m. at his home.

However, in the morning he was found hanging in the house.

In his complaint, his father, Kathiresan, a mason, alleged that he was getting frequent calls from the bank seeking repayment of the loan.

The caller had been reportedly warned that the student’s original certificate would be seized for non-repayment, he said.

The police said that the boy was depressed without employment.

His parents were keen on sending him abroad.

The Avaniyapuram police have registered a case of suspicious death.
