9 IVF babies delivered
Guru Hospital here has recently handled the delivery of nine babies, all conceived through vitro fertilisation (IVF), within a span of two days.
Gynaecologist and Infertility Specialist B. Kalpana, who is also the Managing Director of the hospital, said that the nine babies were born to six women, with three of them delivering twins. “Almost all of them came with various complications and they had approached multiple hospitals in vain before coming to us,” Dr. Kalpana said.
She said one woman, aged 40 years, had intrauterine insemination (IUI) 33 times in different hospitals but could not conceive. “We identified that she had uterus fibroids and treated her accordingly,” she said. She said the babies were healthy without complications.
