Chokkampatti police have arrested a 63-year-old man, along with his wife and son, for allegedly murdering his elder brother.

Police said Ramasubbiah (67) of Mela Thiruvettanallur near Kadayanallur in the district had a dispute with his brother Ramar (63) over using the common well for irrigating their adjacent farms. When a quarrel erupted between them on Wednesday night, Ramar, his wife Thirumalai (52) and son R. Kottursamy (31) attacked Ramasubbiah with a club, in which he sustained grievous injuries.

After being admitted to Government Hospital at Kadayanallur, Ramasubbiah was brought to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Chokkampatti police have registered a case and arrested the three.
