Two persons were killed and five others injured when an omni van in which they were travelling hit a stationary lorry on the Madurai-Dindigul road near Vadipatti at around 12.30 a.m. on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as M. Thavasiammal (55) of Muthukulathoor and Palaniselvam (14), son of Balakrishnan of Udumalpet.

When the speeding vehicle was crossing Kulasekarankottai junction on the four-way road, it rammed the stationary lorry.
