Eight persons on Monday surrendered in connection with the triple murder reported in Jaihindpuram on Friday. Similarly, four persons surrendered in connection with the murder of a youth, V. Muthupandi, at K. Pudur on Thursday.

The police said that the prime accused Gundumani and R. Soundar were among the eight who surrendered at the Melur Judicial Magistrate Court in connection with the murder of two brothers, ‘Pambu’ Nagaraj and Karuppuraj, and their friend, Karthik. An armed gang hacked the trio to death while watching television at the siblings’ house at Meenabigai Nagar on Friday afternoon.

The police said that ‘Pambu’ Nagaraj is said to have been involved in a murder case in Kancheepuram.

However, the motive behind the brutal murder on Friday is said to be the involvement of ‘Pambu’ Nagaraj in an attempt to murder Soundar at Jaihindpuram by an armed gang in the past.

Meanwhile, four persons surrendered in connection with the murder of Muthupandi, who is the son of a DMK functionary, Velu, on Thursday night.

The police identified them as Mukesh Sharma, Mani Sekar, Velmurugan and Rajkumar. Mukesh Sharma is related to DMK functionary and former Corporation zonal chairperson V.K. Gurusamy.

The police said that Mukesh had taken revenge on Muthupandi for his sister’s death. Muthupandi had married his sister, Poorna, who died allegedly due to dowry harassment in 2007.
